About Us

Our Identity

Doing things properly is how we make a difference. Every day we work to build a future fueled by commitment, passion, and innovation. The words that guide us are not random. Every recipe— from ready first courses to snacks— is designed to bring the best of Italian tradition straight to the table, whether at home or in a fine restaurant. In short, we make quality frozen foods. But above all, we are a team of people who chose to work together to go beyond food: to create experiences that speak to people’s hearts, the way good food can.
Our History

The future isn’t predicted, it’s built: the key stages of our journey

  • 1987 We started with the goal of creating innovative products for the frozen market
  • View all
  • 2000 We opened two new large departments for producing frozen first courses and began selling in the U.S. market.
  • 2002 We joined the Barilla Group and obtained ISO 14001 environmental certification.
  • 2007 We moved to the PE CONSILIUM fund, which strengthened the team and appointed the leadership that still guides the company today.
  • 2008 We obtained BRCGS and IFS quality certifications for the first tim
  • 2013 We joined major U.S. food groups (Ralcorp Group, CONAGRA FOODS). We built a filled-pasta line, automated crêpe packaging with robots, and started designing a new purification plant.
  • 2019 We were acquired by CONSILIUM and PROGRESSIO funds and a group of private investors: we became “Italian” again. We continued technical upgrades and innovations, and—most importantly—enabled our people to acquire company shares.
  • 2020 We became a true Innovation Factory: we developed new products and explored new markets. We completed “Futura,” our hub for production innovation.
  • 2021 Doing business must also rhyme with sustainability. We made a conscious, responsible choice: we drafted a plan to improve our impact on the environment and communities, toward customers and suppliers, employees and shareholders.
  • 2022 A turning point: we strengthened our market position and started producing sweet crêpes. We joined CO2alizione and later became a Benefit Corporation. We published the first Smart Report and carried out our first organizational LCA to measure our environmental impacts.
  • 2023 A new chapter: we became a B CORP. We created our first materiality matrix and presented it in our second Sustainability Report, following GRI standards.
  • 2024 We consolidated our role as “sustainable innovators,” leading a concrete and measurable evolution. In our third Sustainability Report, we presented 2023 results and set 2024 goals. A key moment: new ownership. We joined the Orange Capital Development family, through the Wealth Venture Fund SICAR SA. This opens new growth perspectives and strengthens our long-term vision.
  • 2025 Gelit is now a Joint-Stock Company (SpA). The new legal form is not just formal; it marks a strategic step that reflects our broad vision for growth, ongoing innovation, and investment in a more sustainable and prosperous future.
