Community

Our connection with our community and territory is more than geographic. It’s a deep relationship made of people, stories, and shared values. This is where we were born, where we grew, and where most of the people who keep our company alive each day still live. We work to give back to the community that has always been part of who we are, knowing that we can go far only by working together. Support for local suppliers and the local economy, volunteer initiatives, partnerships with schools, and the restoration of green areas are just some of the projects we have carried out to return a little of what we have received over time.
Sometimes a simple gesture is enough to set off a chain of positive change.

Environment

Our environmental strategy looks ahead, but starts with concrete actions today. Reduce, reuse, and recover are the principles guiding our work. At the center is the responsible management of resources—energy, raw materials, water—and better waste management to limit waste and make processes increasingly circular. Our ambition is also to help build a society with zero CO₂ emissions. We know change happens only by working together, so we collaborate with partners to build shorter supply chains, improve efficiency, and reduce environmental impact.
The more companies follow this path, the easier it will be to reach the goal of reducing environmental impacts together.

We take care of the people who make our company unique

Investing in people’s well-being is the key to growing as a team

At Gelit, employee well-being is always center stage. That’s why we keep working with commitment to create a workplace that feels healthier, calmer, and more motivating.

Strong internal communication and teamwork are part of our approach, along with attention to detail and care for our spaces. And “care” is the common thread behind everything we do: we focus on taking care of the people in our company, making the well-being of every employee - and their families - our first priority.

For us, “taking care” starts with being present and listening, so we can offer real support in everyday life. In 2024, we promoted medical prevention initiatives such as free skin screenings, and we continued psychological support (with the same professional who has been supporting us since 2022). We also held meetings with specialists in speech therapy and psychomotor skills to support families who needed it.

“Taking care” also means standing by people in difficult moments—when they need special leave to care for loved ones, or when serious situations arise. And it also means practical help: for example, we made company electric cars available for commuting and adopted flexible remote work, offering everyone the option to work from home one day a week.

It also means supporting culture. Last year we organized a visit to the Imperial Forums—an experience that was enriching not just culturally, but personally.

And our care doesn’t stop with employees. Supporting their families matters just as much. We offer concrete help, like covering 30% of summer camp costs, which has been meaningful for many families. In 2024, we also confirmed—every year since 2004—the PPO (Goal Achievement Bonus) for all employees, a financial bonus tied to individual and company results.

Finally, we believe “taking care” also means building moments of connection and mutual support, including volunteering. In 2024 alone, we dedicated over 200 hours to volunteering, involving colleagues and working with the “Fare del Bene” association to support people in need.

Initiatives like “Natale Bimbi” and “Insieme per fare…” show our commitment in real terms. They’ve also helped build the positive, inclusive environment we’re proud of, and strengthened a shared sense of belonging. senso di appartenenza.

Our mission is clear: keep building a healthy, positive work environment by taking care of our employees and their families. This commitment is rooted in the core values of our “Manifesto” and is the key to growing together—like a real family.

Our Big, Supportive Family

At Gelit, we take care of each other: we’re always ready to lend a hand.

Being part of a company like Gelit means joining a new family. A family made up of many different people—each with their own ideas, tastes, beliefs, and skills—yet united by a few principles that shape our way of life, inside and outside the company: respect, empathy, sensitivity, and altruism.

Over time, we’ve worked to build a more welcoming workplace, day after day. Like a true family, we’ve developed a genuine bond of trust across the team—always ready to help and to do good. That’s what family means to us.

Family also means listening and taking care of our people—both in terms of professional growth and in the very real sense of health and prevention. In 2023 we focused strongly on well-being and prevention, launching initiatives that supported emotional and psychological health, alongside medical prevention.

Over the past year, we built a relationship with LILT — the Italian League for the Fight Against Cancer, an organization that has long been at the forefront of these issues. The partnership worked right away. We started with company-sponsored screenings for all employees, focusing on statistically significant health areas, such as breast cancer screenings for women and prostate cancer screenings for men.

The response was stronger than expected. Participation exceeded our early forecasts, with 113 people involved (78 men and 35 women) across the on-site screening days.

That’s why we plan to continue and improve the program in the coming year, bringing in new prevention initiatives to support every member of our big family. A small spoiler: we’re considering adding mole mapping screenings. And we want to support employees with children by organizing seminars on speech therapy and child and adolescent psychology—so we can help in important moments of life, both at work and beyond, taking care of people in a full, meaningful way.

Giving Also Means Receiving

With children, women, and families: facing challenges together to be a real community

In 2024, we strengthened our ties with the community by supporting two outstanding nonprofit organizations. We partnered with Associazione Arcobaleno, which supports women who are survivors of violence, by organizing a day at the Gardens of Ninfa. A small gesture to bring a bit of calm and closeness to people who have already been through so much.

Together with the nonprofit Istituto per la Famiglia, we also provided practical support to more than 200 families in difficulty. Beyond distributing food, we wanted to show up in a more direct way, with initiatives centered on listening, relationships, and the value of shared time.

Among our other 2024 initiatives, “Natale Bimbi,” now in its 3rd edition, was once again a truly special moment for us. 33 children wrote their letters to Santa, and thanks to I.C. Alfonso Volpi School in Cisterna—who made their gym available—we donated more than 70 toys, ensuring each child received two gifts, so their joy could be doubled.

Entertainment, a sleigh, reindeer, and a “Happy Meal” offered by the “McElves,” in partnership with the Cisterna di Latina McDonald’s through Banco Alimentare, completed a celebration that brought our community together.

In the end, the greatest gift isn’t the objects. It’s time, listening, and being present. And as always, giving also means receiving: every one of these initiatives leaves all of us with something more.

A Magical Christmas

A grand celebration to bring the magical atmosphere of Lapland to many children in need

We chose to support our community not only through donations or food distribution, but also by creating real moments of connection.

Last Christmas, we actively supported the nonprofits “Istituto della Famiglia” and “Caritas,” with the invaluable contribution of the Municipality of Cisterna di Latina, in organizing “Natale Bimbi,” an event for children whose families are facing severe hardship. Thanks to donations from Gelit employees, we created a celebration that let many children experience the magic of Christmas in Lapland: sleighs and reindeer, countless elves, and a real Santa Claus—bringing toys purchased through employee donations.

The event was an immediate success. Between costumes, music, games, and entertainment, it exceeded even our most optimistic expectations. We donated over 70 toys, but most importantly, we gave children a moment of joy and lightness—kids dealing with situations far bigger than they are.

This event showed how sharing and giving—especially when children are involved—brings people closer, builds genuine connections, breaks down cultural and social barriers, and leaves a lasting mark on everyone’s heart.

The future isn’t predicted — it’s built

From CO2alizione to our 1st Impact Day: our path toward climate neutrality

We have long been active, committed members of CO2alizione, the Italian platform that brings together companies working to cut emissions by 55% by 2030 and reach climate neutrality by 2050. CO2alizione isn’t just a network—it’s a community that inspires change and promotes innovative cooperation, offering workshops and training on strategies, best practices, and technologies that help accelerate net-zero goals.

We’re proud to have actively contributed to the community’s first report, presented on December 4, 2024, on the terrace of Associazione Civita in Rome.

Following this vision, on December 11, 2024, with the support of our partner Nativa, we launched our first “IMPACT DAY,” an event focused on corporate sustainability that included several of our key suppliers.

It was an open moment of discussion where we shared data, results, and reflections on crucial topics such as emissions reduction, water resource management, and building a sustainability culture in business. Even the event title was chosen to send a clear message—inviting everyone to reflect on the change needed and on the choices we can make together for a more sustainable future.

IMPACT DAY created space for transparent, collaborative dialogue among all participating companies. The goal was to build a shared path toward aligned choices and concrete actions, strengthening collaboration on sustainability.

The December event also marked the conclusion of a learning journey: throughout 2024, Gelit hosted 9 themed webinars attended by the same suppliers who joined the event.

One of our main goals is to set an example for companies that want to drive positive change. We see this event—one we can’t wait to repeat—as an important milestone. And we sincerely thank everyone who made it possible through their commitment and valuable contribution. Together, we’re building something meaningful for the future.

Protecting water is the key to a sustainable future

Reduce, recover, engage: a winning strategy for smarter water management

Water management is a central issue for any company, especially in the food sector. Even though we operate in a water-rich area like Agro Pontino, we believe business growth must go hand in hand with responsible, sustainable water use—so we can protect it for future generations.

In recent years, our commitment has turned into concrete actions. We optimized defrost-water recovery systems, installed water softening units for evaporative towers, and streamlined cooling processes—reducing our direct withdrawal from water sources. In 2024, this led to an 11.4% reduction in water consumption vs. the previous year, saving about 50,000 m³ of water in a single year.

Another key step was activating a biological wastewater treatment plant in 2020. It has allowed us to treat industrial wastewater and meet the highest environmental standards over these years.

And we’re not stopping here. We know sustainability can’t be achieved alone, so we also involved our suppliers—because the impact of their choices matters just as much.

In 2024, together with Nativa, we hosted 3 webinars to raise awareness across our supply chain about responsible water management. We were glad to see that over 81% of our key suppliers actively monitor their water use, and 26% have already launched concrete actions to reduce it. In December, this topic was also one of the main points of discussion during our first Impact Day.

The strong participation and openness from our suppliers encourages us to keep going. We know we’re still at the beginning, but step by step—and together with our partners—we’ll keep reaching new levels of efficiency and sustainability.
